Supporting the pedigree breeding of Rare and Traditional British pigs.
Experienced pig keepers John Sutcliffe and Carole Barr have pooled their 35 years of pig keeping experience to offer comprehensive pig keeping courses. John is one of the country’s leading Saddleback pig breeders who also currently runs a small herd of Hampshire pigs. Carole keeps British Lops, one of the rarest of traditional breed pigs. This is an ideal opportunity to learn from two pig keeping enthusiasts who have successfully bred pedigree pigs for the show field and the butcher. The course will be very practical with the majority of time spent on the farm. Outdoor clothing is a must, wellington boots essential and overalls a strong suggestion. Please bring a change of clothing as you may not wish to travel home smelling like a pig!
Dear Carole and John,
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful time myself, and my 11 year old son Harry, had on your pig keeping and pig showing courses. As well as being really informative the courses were good fun. I especially wanted to thank you for letting my son Harry show one of your pigs at the Great Yorkshire show. He won a rosette and it was a day we will both always remember.
Ian and Harry.
