Looking Forward to the 2016 Show Season

With January litters on the ground we are casting our eye over our pigs to see what we might enter at this years shows. The schedules are not out yet but all show dates are out on the web. There will be classes for traditional and modern pigs and showing is a good shop window for your herd.

Always read schedules carefully to make sure you are in the right class and read any show rules included as these may vary.

If you don’t feel ready to enter your own pigs yet then come along and give us a hand.

Here is our time table for showing our best pedigree pigs in 2016

Stafford County Show 1-2 June

Cheshire County Show 21-22 June

Gt Yorkshire Show 12-13-14 July

Gt Eccleston Show 16-17 July

Anglesey County Show 9-10 August

Westmorland County Show 8th September

Carole hopes to bring out some of her British Lop pigs and John some of his Saddleback and Hampshire pigs.

Last year was a fantastic show season for John and with Carole’s help won several interbreed championships along with numerous breed championships with both his breeds of pigs. The pinnacle was being awarded the Supreme Champion pig at the Great Yorkshire Show for the second year in succession with his Hampshire boar, Coal Yeat Peterbilt. The champion in 2014 was Coal Yeat Judy, a Hampshire gilt.
