When buying pigs it is better to buy from an experienced breeder. All the pigs exported had to have 6 different tests for diseases. All the test results were clear, which gives a positive indication of the high health status of the Coal Yeat Herd of pedigree pigs. Pigs from established pedigree breeders may be more expensive but this only reflects the care and cost involved in keeping herd healthy. The pigs here are all wormed regularly, and are immunised against several common pig ailments as well as having regular homeopathic treatments. I work on the basis of prevention being better than cure!
